From Chalkboards to Chakras
I am Natasha Kumar. My teaching journey began in India, where for 11 years I guided adults in mastering English and inspired middle and high school students through the beauty of French. After moving to Michigan, I spent seven years in a Montessori classroom, learning the art of observation, trust, and nurturing each child’s unique growth.
And then came Yoga, Mindful Moments with Natasha, not just a profession, but a calling. For over a decade, I have taught yoga to preschoolers, elementary students, adults, and seniors, sharing the transformative practices of Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Aqua Yoga. As a trained and experienced yoga teacher, certified breath coach, and holder of a Diploma in Meditation, I founded Master Your Breath, Master Your Life (Breathing Workshop) and the Mandala Meditation Circle to help people experience the deep benefits of mindful breathwork and meditation.
A Passion for Wholesome Living
Beyond the mat, I am deeply passionate about eating healthy, cooking with minimal oil, and creating nourishing recipes that celebrate whole, unprocessed foods. I love growing sprouts and microgreens, and transforming them into vibrant, delicious dishes. I share many of these creations for mindful eating on Natasha’s Yoga Kitchen, inspiring others to bring more health, simplicity, and joy into their daily meals.
Community & Philanthropy
Giving back is at the heart of my work. In 2021, I founded Each One Teach One (EOTO), starting with one girl child in Uttarakhand, India. Today, EOTO sponsors the education of 10 children from underprivileged families. In Michigan, I continue to offer complimentary Chair Yoga classes twice a month for the Low Vision community, a program close to my heart. Through these initiatives, I share the gift of yoga and wellness and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Yoga has brought me the peace I never knew I was missing, the breath I didn’t know I was holding, and the joy of being truly present. Each chapter of my teaching life has been meaningful, but Yoga is where my heart found home, and service to the community is where it beats strongest.
Where I Teach Now
Currently, I teach in person at OPC and Corewell, offering classes that nurture body, breath, and mind. I also conduct online yoga sessions for those who cannot attend my in person classes, whether it is due to distance, travel, recovery from surgery, limited mobility, or simply the comfort of practicing from home, ensuring that everyone can experience the benefits of mindful movement and breathwork, regardless of location.
